1) HRH Bergen: Rafto Laureate 2008 brings hope to eastern Congo
The 2008 Professor Thorolf Rafto Memorial Prize is awarded to Pastor Bulambo Lembelembe Josué for his dedication to end the plight of the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

2) HRH Network: HRHF expresses concern about intolerance against homosexuality
In three separate letters, to the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kenya, and Uganda, the Human Rights House Foundation has expressed its concern today with recent manifestations of intolerance against homosexuals. In all three cases, the verbal abuse and harassment, threats, incitement to violence and unlawful arrests have only resulted in silence from the authorities.

3) HRH Nairobi: Kenyan police behind hundreds of extra-judicial killings and disappearances
The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights has released its follow-up report on the so-called Mungiki killings, the large scale extra-judicial killings and disappearances that have taken place, predominantly in and around Nairobi, but also elsewhere in the country. The report leaves no doubt that the several hundred killings were ordered, directed or coordinated by the top leadership of the Kenyan police, acting jointly with a common purpose. 4) HRH London: Ebadi on free expression in Iran
At the beginning of September, four female bloggers were sentenced to prison in Iran. In a recent interview with Index on Censorship, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Shirin Ebadi reflects on the current state of free expression in the country.
5) HRH Belarus: Can human rights newsletters be classified as 'extremist material'?
18 September, a preliminary meeting of the litigants on the case initiated by Hrodna Regional Department of KGB, asking the court to classify a newspaper, some books, human rights newsletters and music CDs as «extremist materials» took place at the District Court of Hrodna (Western Belarus). Human Rights activists are concerned about the troubling precedent such a clasification might have, if articles of the ´Law on Counteraction of Extremism´ could be used against dissidents.
6) HRH Bergen: Western Sahara human rights defender wins 2008 RFK Human Rights Award
Aminatou Haidar is to be presented with the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award for her campaign on behalf of the self-determination of Western Sahara and against government abuses and disappearances of prisoners of conscious. The ceremony will take place in Washington, D.C the morning of November 13th, in the Russell Senate Office Building´s Caucus Room.

7) HRH Oslo: Nepal to deport Tibetan exiles
About 6.000 Tibetan refugees in Nepal are at risk of deportation, back to Tibet. The figure equals 30% of the 20.000 Tibetan refugees living in four camps in Pokhara, Nepal. In an attempt to satisfy China, Nepal has announced its intentions to deport the 6.000, who have entered Nepal illegally or have never been granted a refugee certificate. Only in the last few days, since 9 September, 132 Tibetan activists have been arrested in Nepal. They all face imprisonment and deportation.
